U
Under-Drapery: A lightweight, typically sheer drapery that hangs behind the heavier over-drapery.
Unfinished Furniture: Furniture crafted from wood that has not been treated with any finish, allowing the buyer to stain or finish it according to their personal preference.
Upholstery: Furniture items like sofas and chairs that are covered with fabric, vinyl, leather, or other materials.
Uprights: The outer vertical posts of a chair.
Urethane Foam (Polyurethane): Flexible polyurethane foam used as cushioning in upholstered furniture seats, backs, and arms. For optimal support and durability, foams with a density of 1.8 pounds per cubic foot or higher are recommended for seat cushioning.
Urn: A term for a vase-shaped decorative ornament, commonly used as the finial of a broken pediment.
