SPAULDING SQUARE: Bath
Used primarily as the family’s pool bathroom, this space of the Spaulding Square Project was designed for clarity, light, and ease of use. The layout needed to accommodate quick transitions—guests stepping in from outside, applying sunscreen, drying off, or freshening up—without compromising on atmosphere or material integrity.
The room is anchored by a carved marble bathtub, wrapped entirely in stone with a single slab rising behind as a backdrop. The effect is monolithic but not heavy—refined by the veining and natural variation in the stone. A pane of clear glass defines the shower while keeping the space visually open. A simple framed artwork and a draped towel soften the formality of the hard materials.
Sink
The floating stone vanity, designed directly from the studio’s drawings, was cut and fabricated with precision. Details such as the marble-clad drain cover reflect a level of thought that’s felt more than seen—ensuring that the minimal appearance doesn’t forgo function. The basin is integrated into the block, seamless and generously scaled, with ample counter space for essentials.
Lighting was key. Wall-mounted alabaster sconces flank the mirror, providing a natural, diffused glow that supports the bathroom’s daytime use—whether for guests pausing from the pool or family members moving through daily routines.
The result is a functional bathroom that doesn’t shout for attention but performs exactly as it should: clean, intentional, and built to last.
